WRC: Hyundai gives Sordo Argentina seat

Hyundai has granted Dani Sordo's request to be part of the team's Rally Argentina lineup, with Juho Hanninen moving aside for the next round of the 2014 World Rally Championship.

The Spaniard had not been scheduled to appear for Hyundai again until August's Rally Germany, but said after the Rally of Portugal – when he took the i20's first stage win – last weekend that he was baffled by his absence from the Argentina roster.

"I don't know why I'm not going to Argentina – I have a lot of experience there and a lot of fans," said Sordo.

Hyundai team manager Michel Nandan put Sordo's omission down to his lack of confidence on gravel after poor form on such events for Citroen in 2013, but was open to adjusting his plans. The team duly replaced Hanninen with Sordo in the second car alongside Thierry Neuville before Argentina entries closed on Tuesday.

Hanninen has been given an additional outing on the following round in Italy in recompense for missing Argentina, which he won in 2010 when it was part of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
