WEC: Rebellion retains Belicchi for 2014

Italian Andrea Belicchi will drive for the Rebellion Racing prototype squad for a seventh consecutive season in this year's World Endurance Championship, the team has confirmed.

The 38-year-old, who first raced with the Anglo-Swiss team when it was known as Speedy Racing Team Sebah in 2008, is the fifth driver to be signed for the Anglo-Swiss squad's two-car attack on the WEC with the new ORECA-built Rebellion-Toyota R-One LMP1.

"Andrea is quick, reliable, loyal and he shares our great team spirit," Rebellion team manager Bart Hayden said. "His efficient driving style will fit well with the new regulations and we are confident that he will help us to achieve the very best results."

Belicchi will drive one of Rebellion's 2013-spec Lola-Toyota B12/60s in this weekend's official WEC test at Paul Ricard because the R-Ones are still under construction.

He will share driving duties with the previously-confirmed Nick Heidfeld, Mathias Beche, Nicolas Prost and Dominik Kraihamer, and GP2 champion Fabio Leimer, who is expected to complete the Rebellion lineup after the Ricard test.
