F1: FIA sets date for Red Bull appeal hearing

Red Bull's appeal against Daniel Ricciardo's disqualification from the Australian Grand Prix will be heard on April 14, Formula 1's ruling body said on Friday.

The team is challenging Ricciardo's exclusion for exceeding the maximum fuel-flow rate during his run to second place in Melbourne.

After formally confirming its appeal on Thursday, the FIA has decided to meet on the Monday before the Chinese Grand Prix to make its judgment on the matter. A ruling on the appeal should be made before action get underway in Shanghai.

Red Bull fuel-flow appeal a major test for new F1

The date of the hearing does mean that Red Bull faces a tough decision in the next races in Malaysia and Bahrain as to how to react to a repeat scenario if there are further issues with its fuel-flow sensor. If it again ignores FIA requests to fall in line with the sensor data and instead prefers to use its own fuel reading, then it risks a further breach of the regulations.
