IMSA: Team LNT looking at Ginetta GTD entry

By

Veteran British sports car entrant Team LNT is considering bringing the GT3 version of Ginetta’s G55 model to compete in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, according to DailySportsCar.com.

“The car’s homologation is already in place and Ginetta are now awaiting word of the Balance of Performance that will be dealt to the 4.35-liter Nissan V8-engined car,” writes DSC’s Graham Goodwin. “The revisions to the car, as raced in British GT and at the Dubai 24 Hours, are principally around the removal of some driver aids, this not felt to be a major issue at Ginetta as the car initially raced without them and was still a competitive proposition.”

With IMSA placing car count limits on each TUDOR Championship class, the over-subscribed GTD category poses the biggest hurdle for Team LNT owner Lawrence Tomlinson, according to Goodwin:

“There is no grid slot available at Sebring, IMSA reporting a full 68-car grid, but the Team LNT outfit are likely to seek to confirm with the championship organizers a program of at least four races later in the season with Lawrence Tomlinson likely to share the car with Ginetta factory driver Mike Simpson.”
