Baku FIA GT races delayed

The two FIA GT Series races on the Baku street circuit in Azerbaijan have been delayed.

The qualifying race, which had been scheduled to start at 9.15am, will now begin at 10.45am local time (6.45am GMT), and the championship race, which was due to kick off at 1pm, will now start at 3pm.

The delays have resulted from two problems: the road surface had been washed and was still wet when the warm-up was due to begin at 8am, and then power to the circuit was lost courtesy of a generator failure.

There will be no warm-up, but the pitlane has been opened early ahead of the qualifying race to allow the cars to take in extra reconnaissance laps.

The track remains damp, particularly in its shaded part. The first race has been declared wet and will start behind the safety car.
