Bentley’s 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours winner Guy Smith will be among the drivers when the British marque returns to racing with its new Continental GT3 in Abu Dhabi next month.
Smith will share the M-Sport-run car with Steven Kane and Andy Meyrick in the Gulf 12 Hours on the Yas Marina circuit on Dec. 13. The trio have all been part of the test program with the first Continental racer, which is being developed in conjunction with M-Sport, over the summer.
Bentley director of motorsport Brian Gush said: “I’m delighted with our driver selection, and in Guy, Steven and Andy we have world-class talent. All at Team M-Sport Bentley are thrilled to be racing next month.”
Bentley has stressed that the trio are only confirmed for the Abu Dhabi event, which is made up of two races separated by just over two hours. It is planning to contest next season’s Blancpain Endurance Series as it continues to develop the Continental GT3 for release to customers later in the year.
Tentative plans for the Bentley to contest the Dubai 24 Hours in January have been abandoned.
