Rain halts Fuji WEC race again

By

The Fuji World Endurance Championship race has been suspended for a second time due to heavy rain. A further eight laps were completed behind the safety car after the restart before the red flags were shown.

The rain had abated when the decision was made to restart the event and nearly stopped at one point. But it continued to get worse after the restart, prompting the race director to halt proceedings.

The race was led by Kazuki Nakajima in the best of the Toyota TS030 Hybrids after early leader Andre Lotterer made three unscheduled stops to try to cure an engine pick-up problem. Lotterer was classified in 25th place, but still on the lead lap when the reds came out.

P2 was led by Bertrand Baguette in the best of the OAK Racing Morgan-Nissans, GTE Pro by Aston Martin driver Frederic Makowiecki and GTE Am by Bruno Senna, also in an Aston Vantage GTE.
