Webber frustrated with di Resta

Mark Webber says Paul di Resta was guilty of blocking both Red Bulls unnecessarily and on several occasions during Friday practice for Formula 1’s Japanese Grand Prix.

The Australian angrily remonstrated with the Force India driver on-track after being held up in the final minutes of second practice. Webber said it had not been an isolated incident, and called upon Force India to ensure di Resta is properly informed about the traffic around him in future sessions.

“The engineers are not talking to [di Resta] when he comes out of the pits, and then he cruises on the line and then lets you go halfway through the lap,” Webber said. “[It happened] twice with Sebastian and once with me.

“I don’t know if it is the team or the engineer not talking to him, but they can do better than that, for sure.”

While Webber said he was unhappy with the balance of his RB9, he remains optimistic that he can be in the hunt for a first victory of his farewell F1 season.

“The lap times are not too bad , but we have work to do [the balance was] not that good,” Webber said. “We still have improvements to make.

“You need a clean run tomorrow, and then get the strategy right on Sunday with just a seamless grand prix. I am sure there will be a very, very good result there if we get it all together.”
