Circuit damage forces cancellation of Houston Mazda MX-5 Cup race
Round 10 of the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup has been cancelled by the promoter of the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston, following damage to the circuit's catch fence.
The damage was caused by a last-lap collision during the IndyCar race. As a result, track promoters have cancelled the remaining two races scheduled for Sunday afternoon. The collision caused extensive damage to the catch fence above the concrete retaining wall on the outside of Turn Five.
The final two races of 2013 for the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup are set for Oct. 16-18 at Road Atlanta as part of the 16th Annual Petit Le Mans Powered by Mazda.
