Jarvis rejoins WRT for Navarra

By

Audi factory driver Oliver Jarvis will return to the WRT squad at this weekend’s Navarra round of the FIA GT Series.

The 29-year-old Briton, who raced for the Belgian team last year in the FIA GT1 World Championship and the Blancpain Endurance Series, has been brought in as a replacement for Rene Rast.

Rast will be on duty for the Abt Audi team in the ADAC GT Masters finale at Hockenheim, which means that Jarvis will take his seat alongside Niki Mayr-Melnhof in the team’s third entry.

Rast’s ADAC programme has taken precedence this weekend even though he is in contention for the FIA GT title together with Mayr-Melnhof: he is the third-placed of the WRT Audi crews in the FIA series, but he and Abt team-mate Christopher Mies are the only Audi crew in the frame for the title in Germany.

WRT boss Vincent Vosse said that Jarvis was the obvious choice to replace Rast.

“He knows everything about us from last season and he is under contract with Audi,” he said. “Olly was clearly the best solution.”

Newly-crowned Blancpain champion Maximilian Buhk will miss Navarra in his bid to win a second title of the season with the HTP Motorsport Mercedes squad at the Hockenheim ADAC finale.

His replacement alongside Alon Day at the sister HTP Gravity Charouz squad’s Merc SLS AMG in Spain has yet to be nominated.

The Reiter Lamborghini team will downscale its entry back to one car because Albert von Thurn und Taxis and Peter Kox are on duty at Hockenheim and the Paul Ricard European Le Mans Series round respectively.

The team’s solo Lambo Gallardo LP560 will be raced by Marc Basseng and Stefan Rosina.

Former grand prix Ricardo Zonta is unavailable for the event and will be replaced in the BMW Team Brazil squad alongside by Sergio Jimenez by Brazilian Stock Car regular and ex-Formula 3 Euro Series driver Atila Abreu.
