TDS Racing expands to two IMSA LMP2 entries
TDS Racing has announced that for the first time since 2023, it will run a two-car IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship LMP2 program.
The duo of German-Canadian entrepreneur Tobias Lütke and experienced LMP2 pro driver Mathias Beche will continue as the full-season drivers of the No. 11 TDS Racing ORECA 07-Gibson. Lütke and Beche are looking to build on a season highlighted by a third-place finish in the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America this past August.
Their third driver for the Michelin Endurance Cup races will be 22-year-old IMSA newcomer Sami Megetounif. The young Frenchman, a race winner in FIA Formula 3 and graduate of the FIA Formula 2 Championship, spent last season driving for TDS Racing in the European Le Mans Series.
Steven Thomas and Scott Huffaker return to IMSA to drive the French team’s second car, the No. 29 ORECA 07-Gibson.
Bronze driver Thomas finished runner-up in the 2024 IMSA LMP2 championship and won back-to-back IMSA Michelin Endurance Cups with TDS Racing in 2024/2025. Huffaker also won back-to-back LMP2 Endurance Cups in 2021/22, along with three straight class victories in the Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Thomas and Huffaker were Megetounif’s co-drivers last season in the ELMS, where the trio took an LMP2 Pro/Am class victory in Silverstone, and finished second in the standings.
David Heinemeier Hansson moves over from the No. 11 to the No. 29 next season as the designated Silver driver for the Michelin Endurance Cup events. He finished third at Road America alongside Lütke and Beche this past season.
“2027 marks an exciting new chapter for TDS Racing,” said TDS Racing team owner Xavier Combet. “Expanding to a two-car program in IMSA reflects both our ambition and our long-term commitment to the championship. We are proud to continue our journey with Tobi, David and Mathias, while welcoming Steven back alongside Scott, as well as Sami, who will be making his IMSA debut.
“We have built something strong over the past seasons, and our goal is clear: to keep pushing forward, fight at the front, and compete for victories and championships.”
TDS’ last IMSA campaign as a two-car team proved reasonably successful, finishing third and fourth in the IMSA LMP2 Teams’ championship with Thomas and Mikkel Jensen winning the sprint races at Laguna Seca and Indianapolis.
