Nicholson leads Mazda MX-5 Cup practice at Road Atlanta

Fresh off his maiden Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin race win, Nathan Nicholson (No. 56 Advanced Autosports) set the quickest time in practice on Wednesday at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Nicholson’s quick time of 1m35.698s came in the first of two 40-minute practice sessions.

Second quickest of the day was Justin Adakonis (No. 23 McCumbee McAleer Racing) who is one of three drivers in the hunt for the championship this week. He is trailing Bobby Gossett (No. 44 BSI Racing) by 100 points. Gossett was third quickest of the day.

Fourth was Jared Thomas (No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering), who is the third driver fighting for the MX-5 Cup title.

Qualifying will take place Thursday at 8:00am ET. Race 1 is slated for later that day at 2:15pm ET. The final race of the 2026 season will go green at 9:35am ET on Friday, October 2. Both races will put on RACER Network and raw RACER+ App, and be streamed live on the RACER YouTube Channel.
