NHRA's Langdon is flying fast this year, but not ready to say he's got it all together

Shawn Langdon and his Kalitta Air team from Kalitta Motorsports have dominated the NHRA Top Fuel class this season.

They've done so with historic speed runs, six No. 1 qualifying awards, seven wins, and a continued march toward a championship fight. On Sunday at Rockingham Dragway, Langdon completed the sweep, winning all four new venues this season and, for the second time this year, a three-in-a-row triumph.

Langdon has now won the most races in a single season since 2013, when he won his first and thus far only Top Fuel title. It has been quite the turnaround over the last three seasons, when Kalitta Motorsports started making some personnel changes, including pairing Langdon with crew chief Brian Husen.

Now in their third season together, Langdon and Husen have won 12 races and counting. Langdon had been winless since 2020. The duo also finished fourth in points in 2024 and were the runner-up to teammate Doug Kalitta last year.

With the triumph at Rockingham, Langdon extended his point advantage to 25 over Kalitta. Four races remain in the Countdown.

But, funny enough, Langdon is keeping things in perspective when it comes to doing his job behind the wheel.
