Ford keeping the band together for 2027 IMSA GTD Pro campaign

Ford Racing and Multimatic Motorsports’ factory-supported IMSA GTD Pro team will retain its existing driver line-up for the 2027 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

Dennis Olsen and Ben Barker will continue to drive the No. 64 Ford Racing Mustang GT3 Evo for a second season, while Christopher Mies and Frédéric Vervisch will stick together for a third season in the No. 65 Ford.
Mies and Vervisch were part of the crew that gave the original Ford Mustang GT3 its first-ever global competition victory in the 2025 Rolex 24 At Daytona. This year, the full-time duo of the No. 65 Ford gave the Mustang GT3’s Evo package its first IMSA win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Meanwhile, Olsen and Barker took the win last time out at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, coming off a 2-3 finish for the team at VIRginia International Raceway, and additional podium finishes at Detroit and Watkins Glen. 

Ford Racing’s two cars are still mathematically eligible for the GTD Pro Drivers’ and Teams’ championships heading into this year’s Motul Petit Le Mans, but Ford is also second in the GTD Pro Manufacturers’ championship, trailing Chevrolet by just 68 points heading into the weekend.

Ford Racing Sports Car Motorsports Program Manager Alex Allmandinger said: “The introduction of our Evo package in 2026 brought race wins, podiums, and a genuine championship fight by Ford Racing and its Mustang GT3 program.

“Carrying our strong momentum and current driver lineup into 2027 will immediately put America’s Race Team in position to contend for all three titles. The Mustang GT3 has evolved constantly since its 2024 debut into one of the grid’s fiercest competitors, and with top-tier drivers behind the wheel, that continuous development will pay off next season.”

The introduction of the Mustang GT3 Evo, focused on providing better aerodynamic balance and a more consistent platform with improved suspension and braking, has also paid dividends for the Ford Racing factory driving quartet outside of IMSA.

Mies, Vervisch, and Olsen were part of the Haupt Racing Team effort that finished seventh overall at this year’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring, which was the best finish for Ford in the SRO Intercontinental GT Challenge – until earlier this month, when the same three drivers finished second in the Suzuka 1000km, driving for Australian teams Melbourne Performance Centre and Miedecke Motorsport.
