54 entries, endless plotlines as IMSA counts down to Petit Le Mans season-finale

The 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season wraps up next Saturday at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, home of the 29th annual Motul Petit Le Mans.

IMSA has published the full 54-car entry list for this year’s running of the annual 10-hour endurance classic, headlined by the 11-car GTP category.

Certainly, eyes will be on the GTP championship battle between Jack Aitken in the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R and Laurin Heinrich, who moves back to the No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963 for Petit.

There will also be eyes on Acura Meyer Shank Racing in what will be the final race for Acura’s GTP program and Meyer Shank Racing’s current stay in IMSA. Just as they did in 2023, and just as Chip Ganassi Racing did in 2024, MSR and Acura could bow out together with a win at Petit Le Mans.

This final leg of IMSA’s triple crown has a number of familiar faces returning to their respective Michelin Endurance Cup roles. Among them, Matt Campbell will make his final start for Porsche Penske Motorsport, joining Laurens Vanthoor who’s back after standing down from Indianapolis.

Cadillac Whelen brings back Frederik Vesti to close out its season, along with Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing’s Will Stevens (No. 10) and Colton Herta (No. 40), BMW M Team WRT’s Robin Frijns (No. 24) and Kevin Magnussen (No. 25), Acura MSR’s Scott Dixon (No. 60) and Álex Palou (No. 93), plus Alex Riberas for Aston Martin THOR Team and Kaylen Frederick for JDC-Miller MotorSports.

LMP2 has 11 cars as well, which includes the return of Intersport Racing. Jon Field, Oliver Jarvis, and Max van der Snel will look to put a pair of difficult races behind them and close the No. 37’s return season on a high.

Meanwhile, Naveen Rao, Ferdinand Habsburg, and Jacob Abel return to the No. 18 Era Motorsport ORECA after Nick Boulle and Christian Rasmussen won for the team last round at Indianapolis.

GTD Pro’s loaded 14-car field includes a familiar cast of returning Michelin Endurance Cup teams: The Ferrari 296 GT3 Evos of Triarsi Competizione (No. 033) and Risi Competizione (No. 62), and the No. 911 Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R. 

They’re also joined by Car Blanche’s No. 68 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, and DragonSpeed’s No. 74 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which moves up from GTD this weekend to close out its most recent stay in IMSA.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Mattia Drudi would join Car Blanche for the finale, and likewise, Sébastien Bourdais will drive for DragonSpeed. McLaren factory GT driver Benji Goethe will also make his IMSA WeatherTech series debut for RLL Team McLaren in the No. 59 car.

Meanwhile, 2025 IMSA GTP champion Mathieu Jaminet will step in at Manthey in place of Ricardo Feller, and Dan Harper returns to Paul Miller Racing for the first time since he and the team won this year’s Rolex 24.

At Petit Le Mans, Pfaff Motorsports will say farewell to IMSA – and hopes to do so with an improbable championship run. Fellow title contender Paul Miller Racing faces an uncertain future after 2026 as well. And while Vasser Sullivan Racing knows it will be back for 2027, Petit Le Mans will mark the farewell race for its long-serving Lexus RC F GT3s in GTD Pro and GTD.

And in GTD, the 18-car field is bolstered by returning Endurance Cup entries: The Ferraris of AF Corse and Triarsi Competizione’s No. 023 car, the Porsches of RS1 and Manthey 1st Phorm, Lone Star Racing’s Mercedes-AMG, and Magnus Racing’s Aston Martin.

Luca Stolz will make his first appearance for Lone Star Racing, while Fran Rueda will slide over to Inception Racing to take the place of Ollie Millroy, and Alec Udell will replace Rueda at Conquest Racing.
