Rasmussen gets IMSA call-up with Era for Battle on the Bricks at IMS

Before becoming an NTT IndyCar Series race winner with ECR, Christian Rasmussen won the LMP2 class in the 2024 Rolex 24 At Daytona, driving an Era Motorsport ORECA 07-Gibson alongside a supporting cast that included NASCAR Cup Series prodigy Connor Zilisch and Champ Car World Series alumnus Ryan Dalziel.

Rasmussen and Era Motorsport will reunite at this weekend’s TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the penultimate round of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The Danish driver will partner 2024 IMSA Jim Trueman Award winner Nick Boulle in the No. 18 ORECA LMP2.

For Rasmussen, it’s his first IMSA LMP2 drive since the 2026 Rolex 24 At Daytona, where he and AO Racing finished fifth in class. Rasmussen has two additional LMP2 podiums with Era, a third place at Sebring and a second place at Watkins Glen in 2023. His best IndyCar Series road course result is a seventh-place finish at this year’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.

“I’m excited to be back with my friends at Era for Battle on the Bricks,” he said. “I have a lot of great memories with this team, especially winning the Rolex 24 together in 2024. I’m also really looking forward to working with Nick. I think we have a strong lineup, and I’m confident we’ll be able to fight right at the front.”

“I have been out of an LMP2 car and competition for a year, so it may take me a bit to warm up, but I'm super excited by the challenge we have coming up this weekend,” said Boulle, who last raced in IMSA at Indianapolis a year ago.

“I'm particularly looking forward to getting to work with Era Motorsport. I know Kyle Tilley puts together a great car and the team has clearly executed well in the past, so this was an opportunity we couldn't pass up.

“This coming together for Indianapolis Motor Speedway could not have worked out better. It's an iconic circuit that also happens to be one of my favorite tracks.”

Boulle and Rasmussen replace Naveen Rao and Ferdinand Habsburg for the weekend, one of only a few changes on this week’s entry list. The other change was announced last week, with Laurin Heinrich replacing Laurens Vanthoor in the No. 6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963, and Nico Müller replacing Heinrich in the No. 5 JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche.
