Hallman wins inaugural RallyX Americas Hypercar title at Trois-Rivieres

Tommi Hallman broke Robin Larson’s stranglehold on top level rallycross in North America by winning the inaugural RallyX Americas Hypercar title in Trois-Rivieres, Canada.

With a packed schedule that also featured the Canadian Rallycross Championship, CrossKarts, Side-by-Sides, SuperMoto and SuperSquads in addition to the Hypercar and Supercar classes, only one final took place in the headline FC1 and FC2 divisions.

Oliver Eriksson topped timed qualifying on Saturday for OMSE ahead of JC Raceteknik’s Larsson and SET Promotion’s Hallman, with Hallman leading the Q1 heat ahead of Eriksson, Timmy Hansen, Larsson and the returning Tanner Foust. Q2 went to Hansen ahead of Larsson, Hallman, and the Eriksson brothers Oliver and Kevin, with Hansen taking an overnight event lead ahead of Hallman and Larsson.

In Sunday's Semifinals, Hansen Motorsport driver Timmy Hansen won the first ahead of Kevin and Oliver Eriksson, and Stephan Verdier, making his first top-level rallycross start since the 2013 Global Rallycross season finale in Las Vegas in place of the injured Jimmy Henderson.

But it was the second semi that was crucial in the championship picture, with Hallman beating Foust and pre-event points leader Larsson, meaning that whoever finished higher out of Hallman and Larsson in the final would take the title.

In the final, Hansen started from pole alongside Hallman with Larsson way back on row three.
Hansen made a strong start to go into Turn 1 in the lead, while Larsson rocketed forward to challenge Hallman up the inside and take second. The move squeezed out second row starter Kevin Eriksson, who looked like he was going to spin but held on in a cloud of smoke, but was now at the back of the pack.

Hallman remained close to Larsson though, while their battle allowed Hansen to take off cleanly out in front. At the start of lap three, Larsson and Hallman were neck-and-neck going into Turn 1 with Hallman locking up as he swept round the outside to retake second.

Larsson retaliated by tapping Hallman into Turn 5, but Hallman collected it, and Larsson continued to push. In a move that would prove crucial to the championship picture, he tapped the wall at Turn 9, affording Hallman some breathing room.

Hansen eventually crossed the line 2.278s clear of Hallman, with Larsson having to settle for third. For Hansen, his win came 10 years after his last win at the track in World Rallycross, and five years after his last win in top-level U.S. rallycross (the 2021 Nitro Rallycross season finale at the Florida International Rally and Motorsports Park).

Oliver Eriksson took fourth with Kevin Eriksson recovering from his first lap slide to take fifth. Foust and Verdier completed the runners.

The result gives Hallman the title by a single point ahead of Larsson, while Kevin Eriksson ended the season third, a further seven points back. It ends a dominant run for Larsson who won the first two seasons of competition for the all-electric FC1 in the now-defunct Nitrocross series, and was leading the 2024-25 season before it was prematurely curtailed.

In Supercar, Roberts Vitols won the final ahead of Thomas Eek Murstad and Alexander Lindeqvist, with Lukas Anderson coming home fourth to secure the title.

In the other classes, Richard Pelchat and Felix Fontaine took the SuperQuad wins on Saturday and Sunday respectively, with Xavier Bellerophon and Nelson Moreau Jr winning in SuperMoto. Greg Michaud swept the two SXS finals of the weekend, with Richard Lacroix doing the same in CrossKarts, and Jacob Moreau also winning both Canadian Rallycross finals over the weekend.
