More grid penalties announced for IndyCar’s Freedom 250
The challenge of 147 laps around Washington, D.C.'s Freedom 250 Grand Prix street circuit just got a little tougher for Marcus Ericsson, Mick Schumacher and Nolan Siegel, whose entries were issued six-place grid penalties by IndyCar for unapproved engine changes following Saturday's qualifying session.
Siegel had qualified best among the trio, in 12th with Arrow McLaren's No. 6 Chevy, while Ericsson had qualified 15th in his Andretti Global No. 28 Honda and Schumacher 20th in the No. 47 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda. They're now set to start 18th, 21st and 24th respectively while Santino Ferrucci, who qualified 22nd, will start 25th as his No. 14 AJ Foyt Chevy must also serve a penalty for an unapproved engine change-out after last Sunday's race in Markham, Ontario.
Sunday's race in Washington, D.C. is set for 11:30am ET.
