Hadjar to miss Dutch GP through injury, Lawson in at Red Bull
Isack Hadjar will miss this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix after sustaining a wrist injury during the summer shutdown, with Red Bull confirming Liam Lawson as his replacement.
The Frenchman has enjoyed an impressive first year with Red Bull so far, finishing in the top six in each of his past seven races, with a season’s best of fourth place in Monaco. However, as reported by RACER earlier on Wednesday, an injury picked up during the summer break means Hadjar cannot compete at Zandvoort this weekend, leading to a reshuffle of seats among the Red Bull teams.
As expected, Lawson has been promoted in Hadjar’s place to race alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull. Lawson made his Formula 1 debut for Racing Bulls – then called AlphaTauri – at the Dutch Grand Prix in 2023, at that point as a late substitute for Daniel Ricciardo, who had broken his hand during practice.
The move represents a third race start for Lawson at Red Bull, who opened the 2025 season with the team before being replaced by Yuki Tsunoda for the remainder of the year. Tsunoda lost his race seat at the end of last season, but remains the reserve option for both Red Bull teams and will return to take Lawson’s place at Racing Bulls now Hadjar has been ruled out.
Hadjar scored his maiden F1 podium when driving for Racing Bulls at Zandvoort last season, a result that helped convince Red Bull to promote him after his rookie year.
The other option available to replace Hadjar was Arvid Lindblad, who has also been impressing during his rookie campaign at Racing Bulls, but the more experienced Lawson – who has scored points in all but three of the races so far this season and is one place behind Hadjar in the standings - has been called upon to make the temporary step up.

“We thank both Liam and Yuki for their adaptability as the teams prepare for the weekend and we wish Isack a speedy recovery.”
