Three entries handed engine change penalties ahead of IndyCar’s Markham race

Both ECR cars along with Meyer Shank Racing's No.66 entry have become the latest to pick up grid penalties for unapproved engine changes ahead of this weekend's IndyCar race in Markham.

ECR's No. 20 and No. 21 Chevrolet-powered entries driven by Alexander Rossi and Christian Rasmussen respectively, alongside Marcus Armstrong's engine issue-plagued No. 66 Honda, will all take six place penalties for breaches of Rule 16.1.2.3.2., which states:

A fifth (5th) Engine is eligible to earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Approved Engine Change-Out if a Full Season Entrant has completed the Full Season Entrant Engine Mileage with its first four (4) Engines. Otherwise, a fifth (5th) or more Engine does not earn Engine Manufacturer points and will be considered an Unapproved Engine Change-Out.

Armstrong suffered his third engine failure in four races last time out at Portland.
