Richmond to open 2027 Chase for NASCAR’s Cup and O’Reilly Series

Richmond Raceway will host the opening round of The Chase for both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2027.

The O’Reilly Series will kick off its Chase on Friday, Sept. 10, 2027, followed by the Cup Series Chase opener the following evening.

“Richmond Raceway has always been a place where the stakes are high and the racing is unforgettable,” said Richmond Raceway President Lori Waran. “This just makes it even better, elevating the stakes for competitors and the experience for our fans. It's an incredible opportunity, and we will do everything in our power to make next September a weekend to remember.”

World Wide Technology Raceway has also confirmed its 2027 date, with the the Enjoy Illinois 300 locked in for Sunday, Aug. 22.

Next year’s calendar is being rolled out incrementally while the series works to finalize the futures of the Chicago street race, Chicagoland and San Diego.

The full 2027 NASCAR schedule, broadcast information and start times will be announced at a later date.

The Coca-Cola 600 should fall on Sunday, May 30. Watkins Glen will fall in September. The season will end on Nov. 14.
