IndyCar returning to Phoenix next March
The IndyCar Series was a hit in March as part of Phoenix Raceway’s Saturday features during its NASCAR weekend, and after the strong showing won by Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, the open-wheel series has earned a return invitation from the track to maintain its Friday-Saturday presence during next year’s event.
Set for March 12-14, IndyCar and its 25-deep roster of cars and drivers will entertain the Arizonan audience on the 12th and 13th, with all of its sessions aired across FOX’s cable or network channels.
The confirmation of Phoenix locks IndyCar’s first three weekends into place, with the March 5-7 season opener in St. Petersburg followed by the trip out west and the quick return east to Texas for Arlington on March 19-21, which is the same three-event sequence that opened the current season.
