
NHRA Top Fuel rookie Maddi Gordon talks ‘Top Gun,’ pedalfests and her first win
When NHRA Funny Car legend Ron Capps chose Maddi Gordon to drive his team’s all-new Top Fuel dragster, he knew it would be only a matter of time before she started delivering on her potential. Two semi-final appearances in her first two NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events hinted at what was to come, but a win at Norwalk in just her 10th start has taken “Maddi Mania” to a whole new level and confirmed that drag racing has a new star. With the victory still sinking in, Maddi joined RACER Weekly to talk about her stellar rookie season so far, some “Top Gun” moments at the wheel of her 12,000hp, 330mph-plus race car and, of course, that winning run in Ohio.
