LM24, Hour 14: No.12 Cadillac holds strong out front; No.30 Duquiene takes over LMP2 lead
The sun is beginning to rise over the Circuit de la Sarthe, where with 10 hours to go, the No. 12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R continues to lead the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Norman Nato has pulled out a lead of over 13 seconds from Robin Frijns in the No. 20 BMW M Team WRT Hybrid V8, currently in second place, followed by the No. 8 Toyota Racing TR010 Hybrid in third. Sébastien Buemi has gotten aboard the No. 8 Toyota recently after taking over from Ryo Hirakawa.
Jordan Taylor in the No. 101 WTR Cadillac runs fourth, but it’s more bad news for the No. 38 JOTA Cadillac, which has recently returned to the garage for more work to resolve its power steering issue.
Also finding recurring trouble was the No. 19 Genesis Magma Racing GMR-001. Daniel Juncadella pulled over off the racing line at Tertre Rouge and returned to the pits after a power cycle. The car is back on track but sits four laps down.
The No. 7 Toyota (Mike Conway) runs fifth, just ahead of the No. 35 Alpine Endurance Team A424 (António Félix da Costa), and the No. 51 Ferrari AF Corse 499P (James Calado).
In LMP2, the No. 30 Duquiene Team and No. 343 Inter Europol Competition ORECA 07-Gibsons have continued to trade first place, but Duqueine’s car is now seemingly in control – at the interval it’s Julien Andlauer in the No. 30 who leads Reshad de Gérus in the No. 343.
Then it’s the No. 43 Inter Europol Competition (Nick Yelloly), No. 29 Forestier Racing by Panis (Esteban Masson), and No. 26 Vector Sport (Vladislav Lomko) ORECAs running third, fourth and fifth.
The No. 4 CrowdStrike Racing by APR ORECA leads LMP2 Pro/Am as Bronze-rated George Kurtz is now behind the wheel, looking to clear his minimum drive time obligations. The No. 14 TDS Racing (Mathias Beche) and No. 99 AO by TF (Dane Cameron) still occupy second and third in the group.
And right now in LMGT3, the No. 33 TF Sport Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R is in firm control with Jonny Edgar behind the wheel, and leading by well over a minute over the No. 27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin (Ian James) and the No. 74 Kessel Racing Ferrari (Dustin Blattner).
The No. 2 TF Sport Corvette (Ben Green) owes a pit stop but runs fifth at the interval, behind the No. 23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin (Jonny Adam).
