Classic Watkins Glen 6 Hour set for this weekend
A diverse field of Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) cars and competitors has arrived at “The Glen” for the fourth annual HSR Watkins Glen Classic 6 Hour presented by Mission Foods, which is the opening round of the 2026 HSR Classic Endurance Championship presented by Mission Foods this weekend at Watkins Glen International.
As the first major endurance racing championship in the United States dedicated to vintage and historic sports cars, the HSR Classic Endurance Championship features a four-event schedule of tribute races celebrating some of the biggest and longest-running sports car endurance events in American motorsports history.
On-track activity began with unofficial testing on Thursday and opening official practice and qualifying Friday before racing begins this weekend on the iconic upstate New York Grand Prix circuit.
Saturday's action will be highlighted at the end of the day by a symbolic six consecutive hours of racing in the Classic 6 Hour, featuring four run groups designated A, B, C and D. Group A and Group B competitors will share the track for their segments while Groups C and D each take to the spotlight in their own respective segments as this year’s Classic 6 Hour winners are determined.
Joining the Classic 6 Hour throughout the weekend is the HSR Watkins Glen Historics for HSR’s season-long championships and racing series.
In addition to a pair of sprints for all divisions, the Watkins Glen Historics schedule has ample feature races, including Saturday’s Sasco Sports International/American Challenge, dual Grand Prix Classics feature race doubleheaders for HSR’s open-wheel divisions Saturday and Sunday and a trio one-hour endurance races.
The endurance race trio includes a near back-to-back line-up of 60-minute contests on Sunday featuring the B.R.M Legacy/Modern Enduro at 10:40am, the Mission GT Challenge Enduro presented by Pirelli that goes green at 1:45pm and the HSR Prototype Challenge presented by Michelin Enduro at 3:20pm (all times ET).
