Isotta Fraschini Hypercar program revived

Danish sportscar team High Class Racing has announced that it has entered into a partnership with Michelotto Engineering and Isotta Fraschini Milano to resurrect the Tipo 6 LMH-C Hypercar program.

The aim of this partnership is to develop the V6 twin-turbo-powered hybrid LMH prototype and race it, with the team telling RACER that it plans to take part in the Asian Le Mans Series' new Hypercar class at its debut in the 2026/27 season.

Naturally, the team also has its sights set on a return to Le Mans with the car in the future, as part of its wider ambition to compete at the highest level of endurance racing.

The team revealed to RACER that it will make a decision over the winter on whether a 2027 two-car FIA WEC program will be possible.

"With a strong background in prototype and GT racing, High Class Racing will contribute its sporting and operational experience to support the technical development and future track program of the Tipo 6 LMH-C," the team's statement reads.

"The partnership will focus on further unlocking the car’s potential through targeted testing and refinement work, particularly in areas such as energy management and aerodynamic performance."

Previously, the Tipo- 6 LMH-C took part in the 2024 WEC season under the Isotta Fraschini banner, with a single-car effort operated by Duqueine Team.

It took part in the first five rounds of the season before the program was shelved after the race at Interlagos (pictured). Its best finish came at Le Mans, where it finished 14th overall.

“I am incredibly proud of the dedication and commitment shown by our team in Barcelona, which has been the foundation of our growth over the years," said Anders Fjordbach, High Class Racing's team owner.

"Through hard work and perseverance, we have successfully partnered with multiple manufacturers and competed across a wide range of championships and categories on six continents around the world.

"Now, we are excited to embark on a new chapter with the Tipo 6 LMH-C, and there is no one better to take this journey with than our valued partners at Michelotto Engineering and Isotta Fraschini Milano.

"We have been highly impressed not only by the on-track performance of the Tipo 6 LMH-C, but also by the professionalism, passion, and dedication demonstrated by our new partners at Michelotto Engineering and Isotta Fraschini Milano.

"Together, we look forward to building a successful future and taking on new challenges at the highest level of endurance racing.”
