Lundgaard leads final IndyCar practice at WWTR
Christian Lundgaard set the fastest lap of final practice at World Wide Technology Raceway, posting a lap of 169.791mph in the final moments of the 60-minute run with the No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevy.
“We’ve identified where we’ve struggled for the last year and a half, so it’s nice to find,” Lundgaard said after struggling in qualifying. “Bring on tomorrow now.”
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon led most of the session in the No. 9 Honda (169.614mph) and was second ahead of Meyer Shank Racing’s Marcus Armstrong in the No. 66 Honda (169.574mph) and Ganassi’s Alex Palou, polesitter for Sunday’s race in the No. 10 Honda (169.445mph). Team Penske’s David Malukas was fifth in the No. 12 Chevy (169.375mph) and Rinus VeeKay completed the top six in the No. 76 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevy (169.263mph).
At the 15-minute mark, Santino Ferrucci slowed on the front straight and said something blew up on the No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet, but specifics were not immediately available. Other than Ferrucci’s issue, no major dramas were recorded.
