Dreyer & Reinbold issues apology after Harvey penalty
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing issued an apology to its driver Jack Harvey and the sponsors on the No. 24 Chevy after it failed post-qualifying technical inspection Sunday night when the carbonfiber suspension a-arm covers were found to have unapproved modifications.
Harvey was moved to 33rd and last in the field after originally qualifying 29th.
“During 2026 Indy 500 post-qualifying IndyCar technical inspection, our No. 24 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing entry was found to have used unapproved hardware, per Rule 14.12.1.11 and Rule 14.12.1.6 within the IndyCar Rulebook,” Dennis Reinbold said. “Dreyer & Reinbold Racing did not intend to achieve a performance gain through the use of unapproved hardware. The integrity of the sport is of the highest priority and utmost importance to Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, our sponsors, partners and personnel. We apologize to INVST, Jack Harvey, our valued sponsor partners and fully accept the penalties set forth by the IndyCar Series.”
The No. 4 Chevy driven by AJ Foyt Racing’s Caio Collet was also moved to the back of the starting field in 32nd as a result of failing technical inspection for the same reason. Prior to the penalty, which also comes with a loss of points the rookie earned by qualifying 10th, the Brazilian was the fastest newcomer in the field.
