Verstappen off to fast start in 24h Nürburgring

There has been no shortage of drama at this year’s 24h Nürburgring. The action, already hectic at times, was made even more intense by the weather: a passing rain shower left the track slippery, caused several off-track moments and triggered a flurry of tire changes.

At the end of the third hour, the Verstappen Mercedes-AMG GT3 No. 3 was leading, having been driven to P1 by the four-time world champion Max Verstappen himself during a double stint. The Grello Porsche No. 911 had also worked its way past the previously leading Konrad Lamborghini No. 7, which had dropped back to third.he first few laps proved tricky for Juncadella as he initially jumped up to second then slid back down the order among the opening chaos and car contact, however he hit back well to hand over to Verstappen in third spot after his hour stint.

The Dutchman took over for his first stint and overcame an early scare when he hit a bump on the track, slid onto the grass and recovered, then he settled into an impressive rhythm to move up the order into first spot by the three-hour mark.
