Rain delays Fast Friday at Indy

Blustery conditions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway transformed into showers on Friday morning, and with the rain, the start of Fast Friday at 12pm ET has been delayed.

An anticipated start near 2pm is expected as the rain has stopped and the decently warm conditions have aided the drying process.

Once action gets under way – and it’s unclear whether the IndyCar Series will extend the 12-6pm session to a later hour as a means to make up for lost time – the field of 33 will have the ability to switch their engines to the high turbocharger boost level they’ll have over the weekend in qualifying, to perform qualifying simulation runs.

Rain, however, is forecast for most of Saturday which could shift setting the field until Sunday.
