Ride along with WRC legend Jari-Matti Latvala at the Olympus Rally
RACER went on board with the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team principal as he prepared for one of American rallying's most historic events. What you're about to watch is the uncut version – because there was no good way to make this shorter.
Latvala lines up in a Toyota GR Corolla Rally RC2 alongside full-season TGR driver Seth Quintero for only the second competitive outing of the all-new machine. The event itself marks 40 years since the Olympus Rally's 1986 WRC debut — and features more than 200 competitive miles across 18 all-gravel special stages through the dense forests of Washington's Olympic Peninsula, a distance comparable to a modern WRC round.
It's a big ask for a first-time entrant on unfamiliar roads. But if anyone knows how to read a rally, it's Latvala.
