Dye gets Cup Series ride with Live Fast

Daniel Dye is going NASCAR Cup Series racing. Live Fast Motorsports announced on Monday that Dye will pilot its No. 78 Chevrolet in four upcoming races. Talladega Superspeedway (April 26) will be the first. It’ll be his debut in the series.

The other events will be Pocono Raceway (June 14), the return trip to Daytona International Speedway (August 28), and the fall Talladega Superspeedway event (October 25).

Based on the 53-second video the team posted on social media to announce the news, it appears Dye will bring sponsorship with him. Champion Container was the wrap on the car in the video.

Sunday’s race at Talladega will be the team’s third start of the season. B.J. McLeod, the team owner, ran the opening two events at Daytona International Speedway and EchoPark Speedway.

Dye was reinstated by NASCAR last month after being suspended by the sport and his now former race team, Kaulig Racing. He was ordered to sensitivity training after comments he made on a livestream about NTT IndyCar Series driver David Malukas of Team Penske.

But upon his reinstatement, Dye resigned from Kaulig Racing. He had started the season with a full-time ride for the team in the Craftsman Truck Series.
