Pumpelly rejoins Heart of Racing for Long Beach

The Heart of Racing Team has announced that veteran driver Spencer Pumpelly will rejoin the team to drive the No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo at the upcoming Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. With Aston Martin factory driver Tom Gamble committed to running the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Imola on the same weekend, Pumpelly will climb back into the No. 27 Aston Martin alongside Eduardo "Dudu" Barrichello.

Pumpelly drove the Heart of Racing Vantage three times in 2024, racing alongside Roman de Angelis. The duo took GTD class victory together at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park along with a sixth-place finish at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. This year, Pumpelly was part of the Magnus Racing team that finished a close second in GTD at this year’s Rolex 24 At Daytona, and finished 10th for RS1 at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring last month.

“It’s great to be back with the Heart of Racing,” Pumpelly said. “I’ve had success with this team in the past, and I’m looking forward to another good run. The atmosphere at Long Beach is always amazing, given the strong Southern California car culture and local support for the race. I’ll also have the chance to drive with Dudu, which is something I’m looking forward to. It should be a great weekend.”

Barrichello, meanwhile, will forgo the opening round of his 2026 WEC campaign at Heart of Racing’s new two-car LMGT3 effort to make his first start at Long Beach, with a replacement to be named later.
