Indy 500 Wienie 500 to return in May
One of the most unexpectedly fun aspects of the last Indianapolis 500 took place on Carb Day with Oscar Mayer’s "Wienie 500", which featured the hot dog maker’s iconic Wienermobiles in a mock race around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
In light of the warm response the playful race received, the company and IMS will bring the contest back for a second year amid the Friday, May 22 activities, which include the final practice session ahead of the Indy 500 and the pit stop competition.
“The response to the first Wienie 500 was overwhelming, and we heard the fans loud and clear that they were hungry for more,” said Kelsey Rice, brand communications director at Oscar Mayer. “This year, we're supercharging the experience, delivering an even bigger, bolder and more unforgettable event that puts the fans at the forefront. With amplified engagement, intensified rivalries and more surprises in store, we're giving the people what they want - an unparalleled live experience that will leave them craving more.”
