DragonSpeed Corvette adds Cairoli for Rolex 24
DragonSpeed has announced Matteo Cairoli as its fourth driver for the 64th Rolex 24 At Daytona. The Italian will join Henrik Hedman, Giacomo Altoè and Casper Stevenson behind the wheel of the No. 81 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the GTD class.
Cairoli joined Lamborghini as part of the launch year for the SC63 prototype in 2024, following a decade driving Porsches as a contracted driver. After the downsizing of the SC63 program, Cairoli left Lamborghini but remained with Iron Lynx as an LMGT3 driver in the World Endurance Championship, piloting a Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. He was dropped from the WEC program after just three rounds, but continued with Iron Lynx–Proton for a full European Le Mans Series LMP2 campaign.
Additionally, Cairoli finished second in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup standings driving a Mercedes-AMG for Winward Racing, and finished third in this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours driving a Dinamic GT Porsche.
“I am glad to join the team for Daytona 24 in such a strong line-up,” said Cairoli. “I will give my very best to adapt to the car as quick as possible and would be cool to get a successful result in our first time together.”
Elton Julian, DragonSpeed team principal, added: “The addition of Matteo to our line-up signals exactly what we are aiming to do: Surround Henrik with a rapid, powerful and experienced line-up.”
