Marcus Ericsson teaming up with brother Hampus for Michelin 12H Malaysia
2022 Indianapolis 500 winner Marcus Ericsson and his brother Hampus will race together for the very first time at the Michelin 12H Malaysia, held on December 6 at Petronas Sepang International Circuit.
The Ericsson brothers (pictured above at IMS in September) will drive the No. 63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, entered by German team Leipert Motorsport. They’ll share the car with fellow Swedes Thomas Karlsson and Axel Bengtsson.
Though most of Marcus Ericsson’s career has been spent in single-seaters – primarily in IndyCar and Formula 1 – he has made two Rolex 24 At Daytona starts (2022 and 2024) along with cameo appearances in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. It’ll be Marcus’ first time driving a GT3 car in competition.
Hampus Ericsson won the 2025 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Pro Championship alongside co-driver and IMSA WeatherTech GTD race winner Danny Formal. The Wayne Taylor Racing duo of Ericsson and Formal then went on to win the Super Trofeo World Final in Misano.
Karlsson boasts extensive one-make racing experience with over 100 Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia races under his belt, while Bengtsson spent this season racing in the ADAC GT4 Germany series.
The 12H Malaysia is the first race of the three-race 24H Series Middle East Trophy, which also features the 6H Abu Dhabi (January 10) and the signature event of the 24H Series, the 24H Dubai on January 17–18.
