Halloween coming early for AO Racing at Petit Le Mans
AO Racing's Rexy and Spike will celebrate Halloween just a little bit early this year.
Both the No. 77 Porsche 911 GT3 R (Rexy) and the No. 99 ORECA 07-Gibson LMP2 (Spike) will have black and white skeleton liveries at next week's Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. AO Racing is getting into the festive spirit off the track, too: The team's driver autograph session next Friday at 1:00 PM ET (local time) will become a Halloween costume party. Fans seeking autographs from the AO drivers will be encouraged to come in costume. However, the team will not have an opportunity for fans to sign one of its cars, as was the case last year at Petit Le Mans.
PJ Hyett and Dane Cameron will fight for the LMP2 Drivers' Championship at Road Atlanta, joined by Michelin Endurance Cup specialist Jonny Edgar. Hyett and Cameron carry a 75-point lead over United Autosports USA driver Daniel Goldburg heading into the last race of the IMSA season. Hyett also leads the Jim Trueman Award standings for the top LMP2 Bronze driver, which would grant the winner an automatic invitation to the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans.
While Rexy and Laurin Heinrich are out of contention to win their second consecutive GTD PRO titles, Heinrich and Klaus Bachler are determined to finish the season on a high note. They will be joined by Porsche Penske Motorsport driver Michael Christensen, who drove in four races for AO Racing last year.
