Briscoe knocks out another pole with Kansas flier
Chase Briscoe earned his seventh pole of the NASCAR Cup Series season Saturday at Kansas Speedway after knocking his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Denny Hamlin, from the top spot with a lap of 180.078mph (29.987s). It's Briscoe's ninth pole of his career, with 2025 being the first time he’s won multiple poles in a season.
Hamlin (P) qualified second at 179.474mph, Kyle Larson (P) third at 179.396mph, Chase Elliott (P) fourth at 179.063mph and Christopher Bell (P) fifth at 179.015mph.
Carson Hocevar qualified sixth at 178.642mph, Bubba Wallace (P) seventh at 178.371mph, Ty Gibbs eighth at 178.283mph, Ross Chastain (P) ninth at 178.265mph and Erik Jones 10th at 178.136mph.
Chastain is the defending winner at Kansas. He was not in the playoffs when he won this race a year ago.
William Byron (P) qualified 11th and Tyler Reddick (P) qualified 12th. Austin Cindric (P) managed 26th and Joey Logano (P) just 35th.
Ryan Blaney (P) was the only driver who did not make a qualifying lap. Blaney crashed in practice because of a blown tire and his Team Penske crew is working to prepare the backup car for Sunday’s race.
