McKee grabs second career TA2 pole at VIR
Tristan McKee in the No. 28 Spire/Gainbridge/SLR-M1 Chevrolet claimed his second-career pole award with a best time of 1m49.079s in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series event at VIRginia International Raceway.
“It's been a really good weekend so far,” said McKee after qualifying. “We've had really good speed. My lap was a little bit messy, but we came out on top by not much over Carson [Brown], my teammate. Overall, the TeamSLR and M1 guys brought really fast Chevys. We were all there close to the top five. It really showed the hard work we've been putting in. Some of the track was a little bit shaded, so it was hard to see some of the corners and I messed up a little bit, but not bad. Thanks to Gainbridge, Chevy, Spire, HendrickCars.com and to Josh Wise, Scott Speed, Lorin Ranier for all the help in preparing for this race.”
Jared Odrick (No. 00 Black Underwear/CoolBoxx Chevrolet Camaro) was the fastest of the Pro/Am Challenge contenders, qualifying eighth overall with a time of 1m50.712s.
The race will be contested Saturday at 12:35 p.m. ET. It will be streamed live on Trans Am’s YouTube channel, @TheTransAmSeries, and broadcast live on SPEED SPORT 1, with coverage beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET. An encore presentation will air on SPEED SPORT 1 Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET.
