Buemi signs multi-year deal to stay with Envision Racing
Envision Racing has announced that Sebastien Buemi will remain at the team after signing a multi-year deal. It keeps the former series champion at the team going into the GEN4 ruleset, which will arrive for the 2026-27 season, making Buemi the first driver confirmed that will have driven across all iterations of Formula E.
“I’m really happy to re-sign with Envision Racing,” said Buemi. “We have enjoyed plenty of great moments and results together over the past three seasons, and I am very excited and motivated to add to this.
“Season 11 was a good year for me personally, achieving the win in Monaco and podiums which have been a great boost for us to keep working hard and achieve more this season.”
Buemi currently holds the record for the most wins in Formula E history with 14 along with Mitch Evans, putting him one ahead of Lucas di Grassi who like Buemi – and Jean-Eric Vergne, and Sam Bird, who is without a drive for next season after NEOM McLaren's exit – has competed in every Formula E season to-date. He also has 34 podiums, the third most, four behind Vergne and seven behind di Grassi.

The former Formula 1 driver, who has also won the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times with Toyota, has been with Jaguar customer Envision for the last three campaigns – the whole of the GEN3 era. He has taken six podiums in that time, including a win in the second Monaco race last season, and third places at the team's home race in London in one race of each season. He also helped the team to the teams’ title in his first season alongside Nick Cassidy who subsequently left for the factory Jaguar team.
Buemi’s re-signing comes after the team announced Robin Frijns would be departing the team after six seasons across two stints. His replacement has not yet been announced.
“We are delighted to confirm that Seb will remain part of the team. His experience and technical insight have been instrumental in advancing both our car and our overall performance,” said Envision Racing managing director and CTO Sylvain Filippi. “We’re confident he will continue to drive us forward and deliver strong results.”

Dominik often jokes that he was born in the wrong country – a lover of NASCAR and IndyCar, he covered both in a past life as a junior at Autosport in the UK, but he’s spent most of his career to date covering the sliding and flying antics of the U.S.’ interpretation of rallycross. Rather fitting for a man that says he likes “seeing cars do what they’re not supposed to do”, previously worked for a car stunt show, and once even rolled a rally car with Travis Pastrana. He was also comprehensively beaten in a kart race by Sebastien Loeb once, but who hasn’t been?
