UPDATE: Dillmann suffers undisclosed injury after CTMP crash

Inter Europol Competition has released a statement confirming that Tom Dillmann is "OK" after crashing out of the lead in today's IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

"With just 20 minutes remaining in the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, our driver Tom Dillmann, who was leading the race, made heavy contact with the barrier. Tom lost the car through no fault of his own because of a technical problem that we need to investigate," the team's statement read. "The impact was significant, and Tom was immediately taken to the medical center for evaluation.

"Thankfully, he's OK and that's the most important news for us today. Motorsport reminded us once again how unpredictable and risky it can be. Thank you all for your messages, support, and concern–we truly appreciate it."

Track workers assisted Dillmann out of his damaged No. 43 ORECA 07-Gibson after he attempted to get out on his own. He was awake and alert, but placed on a stretcher and left via ambulance. According to IMSA, Dillmann was later taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

Dillmann has since posted on his social media, sharing in an update on Monday morning that he has suffered an undisclosed injury – but plans to be back as soon as possible. "Thank you for reaching out. [The] main thing is that I'm gutted we did not take the win due to a mechanical failure after executing the perfect race. Back-to-back was looking good," Dillmann said.

"I will need a bit of time to recover from an injury, but I will be back swinging ASAP, you can be sure! Thank you to everyone that helped me tonight, from the hospital, IMSA, and my mate Kuba [Smiechowski]."
