No changes to 2024 Indy results - Boles

IndyCar President Doug Boles says the 2024 Indianapolis 500 win by Josef Newgarden will stand.

“It won the Indianapolis 500,” Boles said.

The decision comes days after two of Team Penske’s cars, including Newgarden’s current No. 2 Chevy and the No. 12 of Will Power, were found to be carrying illegally modified attenuators during Sunday’s Pole Day activities to set the grid for the 109th Indy 500.

Using photographs of the winning car from 2024, the same illegally modified attenuator appears to be on Newgarden’s car from the 108th running of the great race.

Asked if IndyCar planned to launch an investigation into the No. 2 Chevy’s legality as it was used it to beat Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward to the finish line by 0.3417s, Boles reiterated his stance on the matter being closed.

“No, sir, it won the Indianapolis 500,” he added.
