
FOX delivers IndyCar ratings rebound at Barber
FOX produced a meaningful increase to IndyCar’s television audience on Sunday, as the race at Barber Motorsports Park delivered an average of 914,000 viewers.
NBC reported an audience average of 762,854 for last year’s race, marking a 19.8 percent rise with 151,146 more network followers for FOX, with a peak of 970,000 viewers during the early stages of the race, which was won by Alex Palou.
According to FOX, “Through the first four races of the season, IndyCar on FOX is up 25 percent, averaging 899,000 viewers over 720,000 in 2024.”
The season started with a huge improvement for IndyCar when 1,417,000 viewers tuned in for St. Petersburg (+45.4 percent over 2024 on NBC), dipped at The Thermal Club with 704,000 (-10.7 percent), cratered at Long Beach with an average of 552,00 (but +79.6 percent from 2024, when it was on cable), and sprang back at Barber (+19.7 percent) heading into Saturday’s Sonsio Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Road Course and the Indianapolis 500 on May 25.
