Lopez to replace injured Barnicoat at Sebring

Two-time FIA World Endurance Champion Jose Maria Lopez will drive the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 at this weekend’s Twelve Hours of Sebring, replacing an injured Ben Barnicoat.

Barnicoat suffered injuries in a mountain biking accident, and a timeline for his return to racing has not been determined.

The pair are teammates in Akkodis ASP's FIA WEC Lexus program, where Lopez drives the No.87 entry while Barnicoat dovetails his IMSA duties with the WEC in the No.78 sister car.

Lopez won the final WEC 1000 Miles of Sebring in 2023 for Toyota Gazoo Racing. He also finished sixth overall in his one and only previous Sebring 12 Hours start, driving a Cadillac DPi-V.R for Action Express Racing.
