NASCAR podcast: Wayne Auton
Wayne Auton calls his final race as NASCAR Xfinity Series managing director on Saturday at Phoenix Raceway. Auton is headed for retirement and adjusting to life away from racing for the first time in decades – although he might pop up in the grandstands next season with a cold one in his hand.
But before all of that can happen, Auton returns to The Racing Writer’s Podcast to discuss what this final season has meant to him, and share some stories from inside the NASCAR hauler.
Kelly Crandall
Kelly has been on the NASCAR beat full-time since 2013, and joined RACER as chief NASCAR writer in 2017. Her work has also appeared in NASCAR.com, the NASCAR Illustrated magazine, and NBC Sports. A corporate communications graduate from Central Penn College, Crandall is a two-time George Cunningham Writer of the Year recipient from the National Motorsports Press Association.
