Two members of Jones's No.43 team suspended for wheel violation
Legacy Motor Club pit crew members John Rosselli and Kellen Mills have been suspended for the next two NASCAR Cup Series events. Rosselli is the front tire changer for Erik Jones's No.43 Toyota, and Mills is the jackman.
The penalty stems from the right front wheel that came off Jones's car at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend when he had just returned to the track following a pitstop on lap 70.
Jones was held for two laps during Sunday’s event as per the penalty and was eventually classified 25th. There is an automatic two-week suspension (in addition to the at-track penalty) when a wheel comes off a car.
Both team members will be eligible to return to competition for the season finale at Phoenix Raceway.
There were no other Cup Series penalties from Sunday’s race. However, there were three Xfinity Series teams fined for lug nut infractions following Saturday’s race.
Jonathan Toney, crew chief for Cole Custer, was fined $5,000, as was Shane Whitbeck, the crew chief for Jeb Burton, and Kevin Johnson, the crew chief for Kyle Sieg.
