Rossi tops Barber IndyCar test

Arrow McLaren’s Alexander Rossi (1m05.959s) and Callum Ilott (+0.140s) led Monday’s private IndyCar test at Barber Motorsports Park. Among the 15 drivers in attendance, the two Chevy-powered drivers were among the busiest with a combined 209 laps of action around the Alabama road course that will host the fourth event — and the third points-paying race — of the year.

Behind them in third was the first Honda representatives with Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou (+0.214s) and teammate Scott Dixon (+0.436s) along with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Christian Lundgaard in fifth (+0.463s) who caused a red flag with contact, Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist (+0.535s) and Ganassi’s Marcus Armstrong in seventh (+0.550s). Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward, who had a late off, was eighth (+0.556s), and he was followed by Meyer Shank’s Tom Blomqvist in ninth (+0.907s) and Ganassi’s Linus Lundqvist in 10th (+0.916s),

RLL’s Pietro Fittipaldi, who dealt with a brake fire at one point in the day and brought out a red, was 11th (+1.137s), Ganassi’s Kyffin Simpson was next (+1.200s), and he had RLL’s Graham Rahal behind in 13th (+1.250s) and the A.J. Foyt Racing duo of Santino Ferrucci in 14th (+1.375s) and Sting Ray Robb in 15th (+2.052s).

Teams have a quick turnaround after Barber as they head west to California’s The Thermal Club to set up for the Friday-Sunday $1 Million Challenge event.
