Lopez, van der Linde join AKKODIS ASP Lexus GT3 team
French outfit AKKODIS ASP Team, which will race with Lexus in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship LMGT3 class, has revealed the full-driver lineup for its pair of Lexus RC F GT3s.
In the No. 87, former Toyota LMP1 and Hypercar driver José María López will team up with young Franco-Canadian Esteban Masson and experienced Japanese driver Takeshi Kimura.
Meanwhile, at the wheel of the No. 78, new Lexus factory signing Kelvin van der Linde will race alongside AKKODIS ASP regular Timur Boguslavskiy and 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup GT3 title winner Arnold Robin.
Robin joins the effort after impressing at a recent test with ASP in Barcelona last month, in what was described by a team member to RACER as a "shootout" with other potential drivers. There, he spent time with the team and both nominated pro drivers, who helped him get up to speed with the RC F GT3 ahead of the new season.
That was just the second test with the RC F GT3 for AKKODIS ASP, which was supported by TGR Europe staff on-site in Spain. It was also van der Linde's first appearance with the team.
With the 2024 FIA WEC entry list now public, the driver slots in the LMGT3 class are filling fast. AKKODIS ASP's news comes just days after TF Sport revealed that it has filled the three seats for its No. 83 Corvette Z06 GT3.R, with Tom Van Rompuy, Rui Andrade and Charlie Eastwood all signed.
