Ilott eyeing IndyCar return despite dwindling options for 2024
Callum Ilott wants to continue racing in the NTT IndyCar Series. Whether that happens in 2024, when few available seats are open, or in 2025 when more opportunities exist, is the greatest question facing the former Juncos Hollinger Racing driver.
“The timing of my free agency has not made IndyCar job hunting for 2024 easy at all,” the Briton told RACER. “My priority is to race at the highest levels possible and be competitive in doing so. In the absence of a full-time IndyCar ride in 2024, I need to adjust my plans accordingly. That could still include a part-time drive, reserve role, or a one-off Indy 500 appearance in 2024.”
The 24-year-old is known to have drawn interest at the highest levels of domestic and international sports car racing, which could be where his talents are applied next year while he seeks a new home in IndyCar.
Based on the absence of IndyCar date clashes for the majority of IMSA and WEC rounds, Ilott would be able to attend most IndyCar races and work towards securing a ride for 2025.
