Special COPO Corvette on Russo and Steele’s Scottsdale Docket
Scottsdale, AZ -- A one-of-one 1967 Chevrolet Corvette COPO, built by special order of General Motors design head Bill Mitchell, is one of the highlights of Russo and Steele’s Jan. 15-19 Scottsdale auction.

Mitchell -- credited with the styling of the second-generation Corvette and its signature hideaway headlights -- had this final-year model created through a Central Office Production Order (COPO), open to dealers and other select GM personnel to create fleet and high-performance cars.

This Corvette is well documented, including the original “tank sheet,” Protecto Plate and factory order sheet with Bill Mitchell’s name, plus a signature from Zora Arkus-Duntov, considered the father of the performance Corvette, in its notebook. It holds the honor of being the first winner of the Bloomington Gold Historic Award in June 2001.
